JETS 2019/2020

JETS 2019/20
Hill Head is very fortunate to have access to an excellent winter training organised by a number of local clubs. The format will be a land training day followed by 6 weekends of training between Nov and Apr. JETS sail in challenging conditions but most of the trainees really enjoyed it and got a lot out of it. There is a maximum squad size and Hill Head has a limited number of places, so that you can start to think about whether you want to be part of the squad next winter. Here are some criteria that we will be applying for selection

Existing JETS

To retain their place in the squad will need to demonstrate;
  1. Good attendance at the last winter sessions (we can't have spaces not being used). Coaches recommendation that they should continue.
  2. Regular participation to support host club sailing (training, duties etc)
  3. Regular participation in Club racing.
  4. If possible participation in RYA British Youth Sailing, South Regional Junior Championships at WPNSA 28th - 29th September (https://www.rya.org.uk/racing/youth-junior/squads/zone/Pages/zone-and-home-country-championships.aspx)
  5. Participation in Traveller Series (at least a couple of the local events) and the ITCA Area Championships at Warsash 26-27th October
  6. If possible participation in National and International events (not essential)
  7. Personal development plan for seasons sailing. (I want to …… or be able to ….. )

New JETS
  1. Completed at least RYA Stage 2 course (or equivalent)
  2. Regular participation in Club racing.
  3. Member of a club race squad

  7. If selected, participation in the ITCA Area Championships at Warsash 26-27th October
  8. Personal development plan for what they want to get out of JETS and what they want to do next season having completed JETS.
