Weekly Update from HHSC 21 March 2019

Published 12:18 on 6 Apr 2019

Thanks to everyone that took part last Friday at the Cadet Information evening (whether presenting, listening or signing up for courses or squads - see "Sign Up Notice" for more information). It was a great turn out. HHSC offers a wonderful route into Sailing for young people and the evening highlighted all the opportunities that we offer from starting out in Oppies all the way through to Dinghy Instructors.

And for those young people that signed up for the first Oppie Sessions in May - take a look at this week's photo for an idea of the places your sailing could take you!!

The last of our powerboat courses takes place this weekend which is great news for the powerboat instructing team (who have had a very busy few months running PB Youth, PB1,PB2, PB Instructor & PBSafety course); great news for all those newly qualified Powerboat drivers (who now have a new skill and even more opportunities for getting out on the water) and finally great news for the sailors (who can start looking forward to a packed sailing calendar with great safety cover).

This week …

Thai Supper - Fri 22nd March

Unfortunately the Thai Supper that was scheduled to take place tomorrow evening has been postponed (as was communicated last weekend). However, the club will still be open and all welcome. Plan now is to bring own Supper and enjoy a social evening as we count down to the start of the sailing season. (We will refund all those people that signed up for Thai evening).

Duties - Please Check Your Emails!

The Sailing Calendar was uploaded into DutyMan in January and since then members have had the opportunity to Login and select the volunteer activities and dates they'd like to do. Loads of you have done this - so THANK YOU.

DutyMan is the only tool we have for recording what everyone does to help make the club function. We know that not all Duties undertaken are saved in DutyMan - if you think this applies to you then please contact the Allocation Team asap (they have no way of knowing otherwise).

The allocated time to choose your duties has now passed and the Allocation Team has used the system to generate duties for those who have not yet volunteered according to DutyMan. This process has been based on qualifications and/ or preference (if you have saved this on your profile). If no preference is given, then Assistant Lunch or Assistant Bar is the default.

If you have not yet volunteered on DutyMan then please check your emails in the coming days as you will shortly be receiving details of the Duties allocated to you. If you are unable to fulfil the Duty, please use the "Swap Function" - (& don't ask the allocation team to organise for you)!!

There are still duty gaps on the system as we work through the Duty List that has been created and which is being Uploaded onto system. So if you haven't yet had an email and want to get in quick with your own selection - then now is the time (you have the next day or two to do this!!). BUT please let Margaret or Leanne know if you do add your name to new duties in DutyMan so they can ensure your name is removed from the working files that are being added. Log in to Duty Man.
