RYA Powerboating

HHSC provides RYA power boat courses. The courses are run at near to cost price, including the RYA certificate plus log book and handbook.
The courses are organised to provide members with a internationally recognised qualification. The qualification also enables members to volunteer as safety crew for club events.
If you are a new member and already have an RYA power boating qualification please contact the Chief Powerboat Instructor for a familiarisation session with club procedures so that you can sign up on the duty roster.
An advanced Safety Boat course is organised each year to qualify our coxswains.
If you have any questions about powerboating at HHSC please direst them to the Chief Powerboat Instructor: powerboat-instructor@hillheadsc.org.uk
HHSC will be running the following power boating courses in the forthcoming year, all courses will be dependent on there being enough students, all timings are indicative and will be confirmed prior to the course:

Hill Head Sailing Club only provides power boating courses to enable the club to provide crews for its safety boats. As such the courses are run at near to cost price including RYA certificate plus log book and handbook charges as required.
There is a requirement that those who enrol on the courses assist with supporting Hill Head Sailing Club as safety boat crew for races or training programs as part of their volunteer duties. Priority on the course will also be given to members who are actively taking part in club activities.
Numbers on the courses are strictly limited by the number of instructors / powerboats available. There will be if required, a reserve list for each course. As our powerboat courses are run to provide crews for our safety boats preference will be given to those with sailing ability irrespective of whether signed on the main or reserve list. Therefore those signed up will only be accepted if they have proven sailing ability at Hill Head Sailing Club unless space available.
Payment must be made on booking the course using the on-line payment system.
In Sailing Club Manager go to Calendar and follow the Booking link when advised in the Newsletter that booking is open.
In accordance with Club Rules the course fee will have to be paid for cancellations unless a suitable reserve is available to fill the place. The person attending the course will be the person signed on the list; substitutions cannot be accepted unless there is no one on the reserve list.
