Racing
We promote a very active racing programme all year round for our members and visitors.
Our dedicated team of Race Officers and Safety Boat crew run racing every Sunday. In the summer we also run evening racing as well as our cadet Dinghy sailing week.
Club Racing
We typically run Handicap, Class and Pursuit racing in the form of series or individual races. We vary these during the year so that you have an opportunity to have a go in different types of racing. For more information on what the races are please have a look at the club fixtures list.
Open Events
We run a number of class specific open events. These typically are aimed at our popular classes. We welcome sailors from other sailing club and organisations to come and race with our members. For more information, relating to our open events, please see the Racing Open Events section.
Getting involved in racing could not be more simple
We actively promote novice racing which is enhanced in the form of dedicated Safety boats and coaching on the water. The aim here is to get you involved in a race, learn the skills of racing, mark rounding, race starts, being in confined areas with boats, all adds to the confidence you can build during the process.
How do I start racing at Hill Head?
If you want to recreational sail and join in, take a look in your programme turn up to the club when racing is scheduled. The Race Officer and members will help you sign on, and take you through what you need to know. If you do not know anything, it really does not matter.
