Dinghy Week is the annual event for dinghy sailors, whether cadet or veteran everyone is welcome. It all starts on the 5th August and runs for 5 days until the Friday finishing with the prize giving and a BBQ. Races will be organised each day or you can just recreational sail around the vicinity of th club. The bar will be open for refreshments and food will be available. We often get visited by various marine rescue services and people interested in the local community.Dates & Times >>>> |
After sailing, you are welcome to socialise and enjoy the club. Parents please be aware that your children will need to be supervised after sailing.TicketsTo make things simple we will have two ticket types. Those with their own boat (£60) and those that will need a club boat (£85). As we have a limited supply of club boats we will be allocating you a boat based on which squad you have taken part in and your experience. For those wishing to invite non-club members you are more than welcome and a temporary membership fee of £25 will apply for the week. This is additional to registration and boat hire fees. There is preference form for you to indicate which class of boat you would prefer to be in, please remember this is a preference only. Link here: Dinghy Week 2023 Club Boat Preference Form If any of the older more experienced cadets willing to sail a double handed boat with a new Stage 1 sailor as crew please email us! If you have just completed your RYA Stage 1 please email us also so we have a better idea of how many experienced cadets we will need.
After Sailing ActivitiesWe are looking to run other activities after sailing on other days but these are TBC. There will be a BBQ after prize giving on Friday. Parents/GuardiansParents/Guardians will be required to stay on site each day. You can nominate a suitable adult to be on site if you cannot make it. This is limited to an additional two cadets. You will need to make the event team aware of any arrangements you come too though. There are lots of volunteering spots to be filled to help Dinghy Week run, mainly Safety Boats, Race Team (Shore) & Catering. If your cadet is taking part you will need to volunteer for at least three days. Please note these are not allocated duties so do not count towards your annual club responsibility. Sailing InstructionsMore detailed sailing instructions will be emailed out closer to the time once bookings have closed. Any questions please do not hesitate to ask the Dinghy Week Team, contacts below. Your points of contact, so you know who to talk to about what.
